Casual Sex is Good for You

I knew it. I knew it. I knew it. A new study of young adults age 18 to 24 has found that casual sex doesn't ruin your self esteem - there's no emotional wreckage caused by having sex with someone WITHOUT BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP.

All the federally funded abstinence-only sex ed initiatives have always stressed that casual sex is bad for you. I remember wondering whether I was missing some emotional quotient because I never felt bad after having casual sex. I had been brainwashed into thinking that "friends with benefits" would twist me up into a pretzel.

The researchers surveyed 1,311 young adults in Minnesota, pulled from a group they began following years ago as part of a major ongoing research study in adolescent health and nutrition. All the people in the study were sexually active and answered a series of survey questions about their last sexual encounter, depressive symptoms and self-esteem.

The researchers divided the responses by how the subjects described their most recent sexual encounter. About 25 percent said it was with a committed partner, 55 percent said it was an exclusive dating partner, 12 percent said it was with a close, but not sexually exclusive, partner, and 8 percent said it was a casual acquaintance.

That breakdown fits with other similar surveys of young adults, Marla Eisenberg said.

But what was different is that they found no differences in reports of depression or self-esteem, regardless of gender or the type of most recent sexual encounter, she said.

So as long as you use protection to stave off STDs and unwanted pregnancies it's completely healthy to f*ck your brains out.

The problem in attitude will always be there as long as the media depicts sex as something that the woman gives to the man!

Why casual sex has bad connotation?

According to renowned psychologist/philosopher/spiritualist/etc. Ken Wilber (search Integral Institute) a radically new "integral" level/stage of human consciousness/awareness/perspective has begun to emerge during the past 15 or so years that Ken currently estimates is being enjoyed by only less than 5% of the world's population. According to Ken all of the previous stages of human development which he labels first tier ( ... egocentric, ethnocentric, pre-modern, modern, post modern, ...) arise and then immediately marginalize/disengage from all of the its preceding stages deeming them untrue/invalid/wrong/valueless/threatening perspectives. For instance the typical liberal post modern perspective is more expansive/complex/evolved than the typical conservative modern perspective which is why most liberals believe that the first step in solving the worlds problems is getting rid of all the conservatives. Bill Clinton's perspective, however, is obviously significantly integral because in a speech he made while in office he announced that what he believed the world needed most was an integral second tier perspective as defined by Ken Wilber, because second tier integral awareness not only recognizes the importance/value/validity/truth of all first tier perspectives but for the first time in human history has a clear understanding of the only path that can potentially save us from extinction. The integral perspective is abundantly inclusive/permissive/friendly/generous/creative/united as opposed to the individual exclusive/judgmental/isolated/selfish/narrow minded perspectives that believe all other perspectives are deluded/wrong.

Getting to my point I believe that my attitude, good or bad, is always dictated by my level/depth/breadth of awareness, rather than the media or anything else, and the reason I'm posting this message is because I suspect that this blog is visited by people who are at least coming from a liberal, post modern perspective and very likely (hopefully) an integral second tier perspective; the only people who might have either a clue or give a shit what I'm talking about. Even though I'm male I'm actually not only aware that my true beta personal nature is to empower/support Alpha leader types but also that my favorite role is empowering/supporting Alpha women because although men make better Generals the thing we need now is world unity and disempowered Generals. For instance, just imagine the disaster that would occur within just a couple of years if all women decided to allow men free rein of everything, although I'm certain there would be plenty of casual sex ROTFLOL
